Guido Scur (1996) is a Brazilian flautist. He began his studies privately at the age of 13. In 2014, he moved to Italy, where he studied for a year. Motivated by his interest in the methodology of Geoffrey Gilbert, he went to study with one of his former pupils, Thies Roorda, at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (the Netherlands), where he obtained both Bachelor and Master of Music diplomas. Whilst a student, Guido was awarded a full scholarship to participate in William Bennett’s International Summer School (Surrey - UK) on three different iterations of the course. There he had lessons with William Bennett and Lorna McGhee. Guido participated in many orchestral projects during his studies, involving conductors such as Jac van Steen, halls such as TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht) and Nieuwe Kerk (The Hague) and appearances in the local radio, Omroep West. During his MA studies, he produced an artistic research under the supervision of Kate Clark and Thies Roorda which explores the phenomenon of vibrato through historical, physiological and technical perspectives. Since his graduation in 2022, Guido has been active as a freelancer, playing in different orchestras in both Principal Flute and tutti roles.
